Voting and Running for Elections

In 2004 , I was the first woman in the Western Region to announce my desire to run for elections.

 

In 2009, I co-founded the Balady Initiative  with Saudi women across 13 cities.  Our mission was to bring about the advancement of women in leadership positions in public office.

 

Our efforts paved the way for Saudi women to vote and run for municipal elections.  Up until  that time, Saudi women were not allowed to vote or run for office.
